What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is a recreational outdoor activity enjoyed by millions of people around the world. Geocaching involves searching for hidden treasures using a handheld GPS device or your GPS enabled device (such as a smartphone) just simply download the Geocache app.
Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then try to find the small treasure troves known as “caches” that are hidden at that specific location. Each cache contains at least a small log where you can record your find and see others who have found it prior to you.
There are over 300 caches sites all over the Ottawa Valley, which some of those sites are in our Whitewater Region!
Geocaching is a fun way to promote the use of our trails and explore with your family and friends.
Once you are signed up, you can find GPS coordinates specifically in our Whitewater Region.
So get outdoors, explore, and happy geocaching!
