The Whitewater Region Public Library offers patrons lending material (books, DVDs, magazines, museum passes), inter-library loans, printing, scanning, photocopying and many more services at each of its three Branches - Beachburg, Cobden and Foresters Falls.

Whitewater Region Public Library Board is made up of a group of volunteers from the Whitewater Region who are interested in keeping the Library a viable part of the community.  The Board meets 9 times a year at the Cobden Branch of the Library.  The meetings begin at 6:30 pm and are open to the public.

Looking for Library Board Members

LOOKING FOR BOARD MEMBERS FOR THE LIBRARY

The Board is seeking members to assist in the governance of the Whitewater Region Public Library Board. The Library has three branches in Foresters Falls, Cobden and Beachburg.

Responsibilites of a Board Member:

Attend and be prepared to participate in monthly meetings that are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month (with the exception of July, August and December).
Discuss and vote on issues pertaining to operating and financing the Library.
Attend and participate in events or promotions the Library may host for the purpose of community involvement and/or fundraising.
Be an advocate for and liaison between the community and the Library.

You must be at least 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, reside in Whitewater Region, and not be an employee of the Library or the Township.  Interest in literacy and libraries, as well as experience with volunteering and fundraising would be considered assets.

Cobden Book Club
Starting on Tuesday, September 10th we will be hosting a Cobden Book Club.  The group will meet the second Tuesday of the month from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Cobden Branch (12 Wren Drive, Cobden).  To register please email wwrpubliclibrary@gmail.com or call 613-646-7592.

After School Clubs
Our After School Clubs will be held on Tuesdays in Beachburg and Thursdays in Cobden from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  Join us for games, crafts and activities.  Please note that children under 12 need to be supervised.
                  Beachburg starts on Tuesday, September 10th
                  Cobden starts on Thursday, September 12th

Coffee, Tea and Chat with Barbara Fradkin
Join us on Saturday, September 14th for a chat with Barbara Fradkin starting at 2:00 pm in Cobden at the Branch at 12 Wren Drive.  Both the Beachburg and Cobden branches have Barbara's book available for loan.
 


 

About the Library

Membership in the Library is free to all permanent and seasonal residents of the Whitewater Region.  In order to receive your free library card, you will need to provide verification of your address so please bring a driver's license, mail or something that confirms your identity and address.

For anyone outside of the Whitewater Region non-resident library cards are available for $15.00

Seasonal workers and college students may receive a library card by paying a $15.00 refundable deposit that will be returned at the end of the season and upon the return of all borrowed materials and library card.

OverDrive/Libby

ATTENTION OVERDRIVE APP USERS!

OverDrive is discontinuing the legacy OverDrive app in early 2023 and transitioning users to the Libby App.  Libby is OverDrive's newer app for browsing and enjoying digital content content from our library.

The Libby App can be downloaded for free on Google Play (Android) or the App Store (Apple) to your phone or tablet. All you need is your patron card.

Libby comes with new features like:

  • Tags to categorize books however you'd like- you can even sync your OverDrive wish list into a tag!
  • A central bookshelf for all loans and holds.
  • Customizable notifications for ready holds, new magazine issues and more. 
  • Compatibility with Apple CarPlay Android Auto and Sonos speakers.
  • Easy access to OverDrive support staff.

OverDrive Front Line Tech Support

What does Front Line Tech Support include?

  • Access to the OverDrive Front Line Tech Support team 24/7 via web form and email.
  • Response time via email expected with 8 business hours of receipt or within 24 hours if received outside of business hours (8:30 am - 5:30 pm ET Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays).
  • Professionally trained specialists provide support for OverDrive technology-related issues only,
  • Self-service support is available to users 24/7 through extensive and user-friendly FAQ and other written help that is accessible through the library's OverDrive powered website.
