The "Irishness" of our Ottawa Valley English "Twang," On Sunday, October 6, at 2pm, the Bromley Historical Society is pleased to welcome journalist, podcaster and raconteur Barry Conway. His topic will be How the feckin' Ottawa Valley Irish Speak English. One of Renfrew County’s native sons, he will share his first-hand command of the history of the English language and how it came to shape the speech of the descendants of the original Irish who settled Renfrew County. This presentation, which is free to the public, will take place in the Old Town Hall, 498 Micksburg Road in Osceola. Refreshments will be served following the presentation.
