The Settlement at the Third Chute Almost 200 years ago the first white settlers came to the Third Chute area, now known Douglas. On Saturday, July 29th, at 2pm, The Bromley Historical Society is pleased to have local historian and genealogist, Lauretta Rice, speak on those early days, which included James Rice and Catherine Power) Rice from Waterford, Ireland. The Rice family farm continues to operate today, 176 years later. The talk, which is free to the public, will take place in the Old Town Hall, 498 Micksburg Road, Osceola. Light refreshments will take place following the presentation.
