Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is inviting residents along the Ottawa and Madawaska rivers to participate in a live telephone town hall to discuss OPG’s local hydroelectric operations.
Both calls will take place on Tuesday, March 23. The Ottawa River telephone town hall is scheduled to run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. while the Madawaska River session is slated for 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Residents who live along the two rivers and have a landline telephone may receive a call at the above time with an option to participate. For those who do not have a landline or do not receive a call, you can participate by calling toll-free 1-877-229-8493 and enter the code 114208.
This year marks the second year that OPG is holding telephone town halls for this region.
Last year was the first year OPG held the sessions in the east which featured OPG officials providing their opinion on the quantity of water within the snow pack in the Ottawa River basin and a rough estimate of what the spring freshet may be like. The sessions also featured a question and answer portion where residents could directly ask their questions of OPG.
OPG is the largest electricity generator in the province, providing almost half the power Ontarians rely on every day. It is also one of the most diverse generators in North America with nuclear, hydro, biomass, solar and gas assets.
