Public Consultation – Council Composition

Dated: October 21, 2021

Council is considering changing its composition for the next term of Council.  It is proposed that the Mayor would serve on Renfrew County Council and that the Reeve position be replaced with a Deputy Mayor.  The Deputy Mayor can be selected in one of four ways, to be determined by Council:

  • Selected by Council at the Inaugural Meeting
  • Elected at large by electors
  • Appointment of the Councillor with the most votes to the position
  • Appointment on a rotation basis for the four-year term.
