Pedestrian Crossovers (PXO)

Pedestrian Crossovers (PXO)

A pedestrian crossover is a designated crossing area that allows pedestrians to safely cross the road where vehicles must yield to the pedestrian. Pedestrian crossovers are identified by specific pavement markings and crossing signs.  A crossover is different from a crosswalk as a crosswalk is usually found at an intersection with traffic signals or stop signs. At crosswalks, drivers are only required to stop and yield the entire roadway when a school crossing guard is present. At crossovers, drivers must stop for until the pedestrians have cleared the entire roadway.
